A delegation led by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal is scheduled to engage Dutch businesses and government representatives, with a focus on trade, investment, logistics, technology and industrial collaboration.
India is stepping up its business engagement with the Netherlands through a high-level visit aimed at strengthening bilateral trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
According to an announcement by India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 21 October 2026, Union Minister Piyush Goyal is visiting Germany and the Netherlands from 22 to 27 October, accompanied by around 100 businesses and startups.
The Netherlands leg of the visit is scheduled for 24–27 October, bringing Indian business representatives into discussions with Dutch counterparts across several industries.
Business Engagement Across Key Sectors
The programme in the Netherlands includes a visit to the Port of Rotterdam on 25 October, giving the Indian delegation an opportunity to examine the port’s logistics and supply-chain infrastructure.
On 26 October, the minister is scheduled to address the India–Netherlands Business Forum in The Hague alongside the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.
The forum is expected to be followed by sector-specific roundtables and business-to-business networking.
The announced areas of discussion include:
- Agri-food and food processing
- High technology and innovation
- Sustainability and renewable energy
- Logistics and supply-chain connectivity
- Manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, textiles and engineering goods
- Services and related sectors
These themes reflect the breadth of commercial engagement being explored between the two countries.
Why the Netherlands Matters to Indian Businesses
The Netherlands has an important role in European logistics and international trade. Its ports, distribution infrastructure and connections to European markets make it a relevant destination for businesses examining trade and supply-chain partnerships.
For Indian companies, engagement with Dutch businesses can provide a platform to explore potential commercial relationships, technology collaboration, sourcing arrangements and investment discussions.
The Port of Rotterdam visit is particularly relevant to companies interested in maritime infrastructure, freight movement, logistics services and supply-chain efficiency.
However, participation in a business forum or trade mission does not itself guarantee contracts, investments or export orders. Commercial outcomes depend on the specific businesses involved and the agreements they are able to develop.
Opportunities for Indian Exporters and Manufacturers
The sectoral programme offers several areas for Indian businesses to explore.
Food processors and agricultural businesses may find relevance in discussions on agri-food cooperation. Engineering and manufacturing companies may examine technology partnerships and industrial supply chains. Businesses working in clean energy, digital technology and logistics may also identify potential areas for collaboration.
Companies considering the Dutch market should prepare clear product specifications, export capabilities, relevant certifications and a well-defined partnership proposal before approaching prospective buyers or business partners.
Understanding European market requirements and the commercial expectations of individual buyers remains essential.
Strengthening the India–Netherlands Business Relationship
The visit forms part of India’s broader effort to deepen economic relationships with European partners and expand industrial and technological cooperation.
For businesses, the value of such engagements will ultimately depend on whether official discussions lead to practical connections, follow-up meetings and commercially viable partnerships.
The Netherlands visit provides a platform for Indian and Dutch stakeholders to explore those possibilities across logistics, manufacturing, food processing, technology and other sectors.
